A spent a majority of my life riding high performance thrusters and competing at the highest level of professional surfing. I was fortunate enough during that time to work with one of the greatest shapers of all time, Al Merrick.
When I finished the tour I walked away from riding a high performance thrusters to experience new feelings in surfing. Single fins, twin fins, quads, no fins… it was an amazing journey. But as life does, it has brought me full circle and wanting to ride a high performance shred stick. Let’s just call it that.. the shred stick. After experiencing so many different rocker templates for years my short board evolved and my rocker relaxed a little bit. The 90’s was a little too crazy. But I feel like I’ve found a sweet spot. I’ve added a touch of width in the nose area which also adds volume under the chest. I ran a single concave all the way through the fins with a touch off vee behind the back fin. It gets me back into the pocket and really tightens up the turning radius. Ride it in some punchy beach breaks or reefs and enjoy.
